Zonta is an international group with thousands of members all working to create an equal and better world so women and girls can be safe, strong, and empowered.
We are everywhere – clubs in 63 countries around the world! We are advocates. We tackle the tough issues such as domestic violence, child marriage and the right for girls to be educated. We work with international organisations such as the United Nations and we help fund community and major international projects.
Zonta is all about getting together with like-minded people to work towards the same goal
We are constantly challenged and always adapting. Through Zonta we grow and learn – it’s the ultimate organisation for change.

Our club, founded in 1971, has a proud history of influence and support for the Brisbane community and campaigning for gender equity and human rights.
The members meet on the first Wednesday of each month (except January) for dinner and fellowship at the United Service Club, 183 Wickham Terrace, Spring Hill. There is usually a guest speaker and we invite Zonta International award winners and club award winners to attend.
The Club Board (management committee) is elected by the members annually at the Annual General Meeting. It consists of the Executive – President, First and Second Vice-Presidents, Treasurer and Secretary. In addition, there are up to six directors. The Board takes a leadership role but final decision-making is at the membership level – all important decisions are voted on by members at the monthly dinner meetings. the current Board includes: President Sandra McLean; First Vice President Jane Keating; 2nd Vice-President Lesley Chenoweth AO; Treasurer Lisa Worner; Secretary Kate Rose; and Directors – Grace Townsend, Louise Ryan and Susan Scott.
