Meet Britt Furlanis - AWA 2023 Winner

Britt, with her partner Nathan and step-daughter Sophie.

Britt Furlanis has good reason to be proud of her professional achievements, she’s achieved a breadth of impact most people dream of.

At 27, she was appointed a trading manager at the Australian Pacific Liquefied Natural Gas Project, a $24 billion commercial venture supplying domestic and international markets. She leads a team of gas traders and is responsible for attracting and developing women into these males dominated roles. Britt mentors’ women within the company and frequently encourages them to work towards their professional goals.

She adds women should strive to be pioneers and have tremendous capacity to prove that the seemingly unachievable is possible. She has her own podcast that deals with issues such as body such as body image, eating disorders and what it takes to be a woman unleashed.

More, she’s founded a business called Laikim PNG, a tourism company operating in Papua New Guinea. Laikim PNG combines education on tourism and hospitality to villagers so they can create their own income streams; it also donates bras to women in PNG - very few women own a bra in PNG. Britt and her co-founder Erue in Laikim PNG are constantly working towards the advancement of women in PNG because they are well aware of the economic & social benefits created by the advancement of women in one of the hardest places on the planet for women.

When asked what her advice is to her younger self? She says, “Trust yourself, love yourself, forgive yourself and be loving and kind.”

Congratulations Britt!
