Zonta envisions a world in which women’s rights are recognised as human rights, where every woman is able to achieve her full potential, where they have access to resources and decision-making positions on an equal basis with men, and where no woman lives in fear of violence.
Since 1919, Zonta has implemented service and advocacy projects and educational programs to improve the legal, political, economic, educational and health status of women and girls.
There are 1,200 Zonta Clubs in over 63 countries, with global membership of approximately 29,000 Zontians.
Global Causes
-
Advocating for Gender Equality
We advocate for gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls in all aspects of life.
-
Ending Gender-Based Violence
We raise awareness of women’s rights violations and unite our members worldwide to fight violence against women and girls.
-
Ending Child Marriage
We work with partners to prevent child marriage in some of the highest prevalence countries while our Zonta clubs and members advocate for an end to this human rights violation in their own countries.
-
Expanding Access to Education
We support women’s education through our own scholarships, fellowships and awards and through our international service projects, which very often include education of women and girls as key strategies.
Zonta International holds General Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council and Participatory Status with the Council of Europe.
Zonta teams engage in these important intergovernmental organizations and in important events and campaigns to further our global advocacy efforts and our mission to build a better world for women and girls.
Zonta clubs around the world implement projects in their own communities and raise funds to support them. One third of monies raised is contributed to the Zonta International Foundation to support global activities.
