Applications for the Young Women in Leadership Award are open!

The Young Women in Leadership Award (formerly Young Women in Public Affairs) recognises young women that pursue leadership skills and commitment to public service and civic causes, and encourages them to continue their participation in public and political life.

Eligibility & Criteria

The award is open to women aged 16-19 studying at a secondary school, college or university.

The applicant should show potential and commitment to the field of leadership, and demonstrate evidence of active commitment to volunteerism, experience in leadership (school, workplace or government) and knowledge of Zonta International programs.

Young Women in Leadership Award Prizes

  • The Club level award is $1000 AUD and the recipient is selected by the Club Committee.

    Club Level

  • The Club Winner is entered into the District 22 Level and can be awarded $2,000 AUD.

    District Level

  • District Winners are then entered into the international selection process. 37 international winners are awarded $5000 USD.

Our Club’s Honour

The Zonta Club of Brisbane has a special tie to the Young Women in Leadership Award.

This international award was created in honour of The Honourable Leneen Forde AC, a charter member of the Zonta Club of Brisbane.

Leneen is the former Governor of Queensland and was the Zonta International President 1990-1992, and still remains an active member of the Zonta Club of Brisbane today.
